A bumpkin named Will Shakespeare longs to be an artist and flees his filthy barn, his homebound wife and her incessant chores. In London, this stagestruck dreamer becomes a front man for the Earl of Oxford, who is too proud to admit he scribbles plays for the unwashed masses. In the process of putting his name to the Earl’s works Will can’t help but "improve" them. This delicious and witty farce skewers the longstanding debate over who really penned the Bard’s works.

Author and teacher Henry David Thoreau is thrown in jail for refusing to pay taxes to a government conducting an “illegal” war of aggression in Mexico. During his stay, he recounts to his illiterate cellmate the events of his life, acted out on the stage around them. A fascinating portrait of an American icon, with themes as topical today as they were in Thoreau's time.
